Under the auspices of the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, the International Conservation Center, or ICC for short, is North America’s premier conservation, research, education, and training facility. The ICC specializes in the care and breeding of African elephants. It is the only center of its kind affiliated with an AZA-accredited institution in the United States.
Contributions to the ICC help to provide care for the animals who live there, support for research, and assistance in maintaining and expanding the center’s facilities.

The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium has partnered with aquariums in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia to rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick, injured, or otherwise imperiled sea turtles. Our Zoo takes in turtles who need long-term rehabilitation which frees up space at the coastal institutions so that they can treat turtles who need short-term rehabilitation. Contributions to the Sea Turtle Second Chance Fund allow more turtles to be helped and returned to their home in the ocean, giving them a second chance.
